2025
We have 4 Foreign Breed Shows in 2025 - our Spring Show: APHS Northern Counties (4th May), our SouthWest Show (1st June), our APHS Invicta Show (22nd June) - formerly the APHS Solstice Show & The APHS Foreign Breed National Finals Show (5th Oct). Plus we have a dedicated Foreign Breed ring (with their own championships) at our Open Show, London Counties.
We will also have our Foreign Breed National Finals - this will be a totally separate show in October (5th Oct 2025 at Pickering Grange, Leics)

Bringing you a selection of independently run shows for ALL Foreign Breed enthusiasts - no membership required to take part.
Shows across the UK holding Foreign Breed classes are invited to affiliate (it is free) and to become qualifiers for the Foreign Breed National Finals. We have a list of judges (see below) who have a wealth of knowledge of foreign breeds, although any panel judge is able to judge one of our affiliated qualifying classes.
The APHS Foreign Breed classes are open to all pure and partbred Foreign Breeds (non-indigenous to UK & Ireland, so excludes all Irish horse/ponies, both Northern & Southern Eire). For breed specific classes, horses should be registered with their appropriate stud book, unless the schedule states otherwise.
All our Foreign Breed classes (both at our Foreign Breeds Festival Shows, London Counties & Open Shows) are run under our Foreign Breed Guidelines - if you have never competed under these rules before, please familiarise yourself with them as it is a very different way of showing from traditional English - enter at trot and the steward will call the gait change. If you hear the call "Reverse", this means change the rein (which can be done in any manner - just be mindful of other competitors). Manners are important, more so in Amateur classes. NO stripping is undertaken in any American run classes and is optional in English run classes, although it must be stated in the schedule if the horse is going to be stripped.
If you wish to find out more about Foreign Breeds in general, whether as a competitor, judge or spectator,
then please visit our Foreign Breed Info Page.
We rely on sponsors for prizes and additional bling awards, all of which help make our events special. Can you help? Please get in touch
if you would like to sponsor a class or championship.
Show Dates for 2025:
APHS Northern Counties: 4th May
APHS South-West Show: 1st June
APHS Solstice Show: 22nd June
APHS London Counties: 7th September
APHS Foreign Breed National Finals: 5th October
Our APHS-FBS Foreign Breeds Society Shows culminate in our "Foreign Breed of the Year" National Finals
for Foreign Breeds - these are open to all those that have qualified during the past season at our APHS events and other selected events - we had many County Shows in 2024 that were qualifiers.
If you hold a foreign breed class (or breed specific class, such as Arab etc.) and would like your event to be considered as a qualifier for our Foreign Breeds National Finals Championships please use the form below. These classes should be open to Foreign Breeds non-indigenous to GB, Northern Ireland Eire and should be judged under USA-UK show rules. We are also able to offer qualification for in hand and ridden champions at breed specific national shows (e.g. GB-PRE Championship Show etc).
Classes being run "English" (individual show) can use any suitably qualified Panel Judge. Those being run "American" should select a judge from the Foreign Breed Judges panel list, or one with an American "R" / "r" card.
